Hi,

I’ve recently reinstalled one of two httpd servers, server1. Before was Debian 5.0 and now is Debian 6.0, before was PHP 5.3, now is 5.4. Hardware is: SSD 2x64GB Raid1 (don’t know before was raid 0 or 1), 12GB RAM, Intel Xeon i7 W3520 4×2(HT)x2.66+ GHz.
I’m using IP Load Balancer.

My apache configuration:
KeepAlive: On
<IfModule mpm_prefork_module>
StartServers 25
MinSpareServers 10
MaxSpareServers 35
ServerLimit 3520
MaxClients 3520
MaxRequestsPerChild 1500
</IfModule>

I have website with 2000 active visitors on site according to Google Analytics.

Server 1 (bad):
ps aux | grep httpd | wc -l
339

Server 2(good):
ps aux | grep httpd | wc -l
305

After re-installation server 1 when I turn off server2 website die. There is about 1000 httpd processes (most sleeping) on server1. When I turn off server1, server2 and website works well (about 600 httpd processes). Both servers are the same (but not Debian and PHP).

I have no idea what is wrong with this server1, why it alone works bad and combined with server2 works well. What could cause this problem? /var/log/*.log say me nothing about any problems. Hardware seems fine.
